Who We Are
One Day exists to see vulnerable children grow up in safe, loving family homes.
We are a Christian organisation committed to long-term, relational care. We believe every child deserves stability, dignity, and the opportunity to flourish within a family.
Our work is rooted in faith, shaped by community, and expressed through practical love.
Our Vision
ONE DAY every orphaned child in Lesotho will have a loving, caring, safe place, that they can call home.
ONE DAY all the orphans of Lesotho will experience justice, dignity, and security.
ONE DAY there will be a large network of locally staffed, community based homes providing an environment that prepares children for lives beyond childhood and that provides them with the opportunity to attain their highest potential.
ONE DAY Lesotho will attain the capacity to provide a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of all its children, including food, clothing, housing, medical care, social services and security.
You might think “that’s a big vision”; we do too! But we’re determined to move with focused intent towards that day, ONE DAY at a time
Our Mission
ONE DAY exists as a visible expression of the love of God, providing safe, Christ-centred care for orphaned and vulnerable children, while intentionally preparing them for life beyond residential care in ways that strengthen both the children and the communities they come from and will return to.
Lesotho is a small, mountainous country in Southern Africa with a population of just over two million people. While rich in culture, resilience, and community life, it faces significant structural challenges.
Over half the population lives below the national poverty line.
Many households are led by grandparents or extended family members due to long-term economic and health pressures.
Lesotho has one of the highest rates of orphaned and vulnerable children in the region, shaped in part by the long-term impact of HIV/AIDS and economic migration.
For many children, these pressures mean that care in their family of origin breaks down. In those moments, safe and structured residential care becomes necessary.
One Day operates in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development in Lesotho to provide residential care where it is required as a protective solution.
Our commitment is not only to care for children in the present, but to contribute to the long-term strengthening of families and communities so that fewer children require residential care in the future.
Why Lesotho?
What We Do
We operate small, family-style homes in partnership with the Government of Lesotho, creating environments of love, safety, stability, and formation for orphaned and vulnerable children.
Our commitment is not only to care for children today, but to prepare them for life beyond residential care in ways that strengthen both the children themselves and the communities they will one day return to.
From the Life of a Local Church
One Day is a Christian project established and overseen by Liberty Church based in Dublin, Ireland.
Liberty Church exists to help people discover the love of God in Jesus and to live lives shaped by that love in everyday life. We believe faith is not only something we believe privately or practise on Sundays, but something that should take practical form in how we care for others.
The vision for One Day grew from this conviction. As a church, we believe that God cares deeply for the vulnerable and that faith must express itself in action. One Day is one way that belief has taken shape.
Liberty Church provides leadership and long-term oversight for the project. Our Lead Pastor serves as Chairman of the Board of One Day, helping ensure accountability, direction, and alignment with the charity’s mission.
The team leading the work on the ground in Lesotho are missionaries connected to Liberty Church, and Liberty Church Halabesa, based at the One Day site, is part of the wider Liberty Church family.
One Day is therefore not simply an independent aid organisation. It is rooted in Christian faith and sustained by a local church community committed to long-term partnership, transparency, and care.

Voices from Lesotho
Behind every home and every child’s story are faithful people serving on the ground.
We’ve recorded conversations with members of our team in Lesotho, sharing the heart behind the work, the challenges they face, and the hope they see each day. These episodes offer a more personal glimpse into life and leadership within One Day.
Listen below to hear from Chris and Sheila Dillon who pioneered our work in Lesotho and from Stephen and Caroline Sharpe who are leading the project in this next season.
Our Commitments
We believe clarity builds trust. These commitments guide our work:
We will form children’s identity in God, shaping character, purpose, and hope.
We will provide residential care where it is needed as a place of safety, healing, and formation, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development.
We will intentionally prepare children for independence, contribution, and dignity through practical development and life-skills formation.
We will steward what God has given us to create opportunities that strengthen children and serve communities.
We will support reunification and healthy transition wherever possible, strengthening families alongside children.
